Having taken  a rest for  several weeks , I am back again and ready for another  post , as almost all of  my posts   focused mainly on the political situation in Madagascar , The two weeks absence  in this site enable me to make  a kind of small investigation and to meditate on how Madagscan people can put an end to this crisis.

Madagascar_Rajoelina_2

All of us know that the successive Maputo I and II was to put end to the long crisis between politicians, ironically , as I suspected it just added spices to the political  realm, things are  getting even worse.  The deals that the four political parties made there was not implemented properly, which make the situation more complicated. What is strange in this is why they signed if  it did not meet their inquiries. By the way, we learnt from the media that what made the deal failed was when they started to talk about the Prime minister’s position. It is true that without these two fellows, the transition would not exist, so kicking out one of them is unfair to TGV party. There is no way to get him out from his seat, his supporters said. The point is that if  they really want a unified government , obviously  Roindefo  has to make a sacrifice , but  It is  difficult for Rajoelina to do so to  his favorite  ally, it comes to betraying him. That  is why , Rajoelina refuses categorically any  action to remove him from PM position;  Of course , the  three other political parties won’t just see  Rajoelina performing his cinema . As relayed by the news, last week they begged the army to take over the power  but apparently  their proposal  was left unheard.

There was  an  appeal for general strike , as we could witness what happened this morning, the legalists and  Zafy’s supporters tried to enter by force at Ambohijatvo park  where they intended to continue the rally.

Another detail that I would like to add a comment is that ,  I read  this week  on a news paper that  the international community rejected all forms of unilateral decisions  which is evident that the newly formed government by Roindefo will have to face  harsh foreign criticicism. It is so pitiful to see rajoelina’s supporters to follow him off the cliff  as the international community won’t approve this  government ,there is no single doubt that they will cut all form of cooperation with Madagascar  and we cannot overlook the fact that it is too soon for Madagascar to be totally independent and self sufficient. The time has not yet come, I am not against the concept of some people to be totally independent but what would happen to a baby being separated   suddenly from mom’s milk? A point that I wouldn’t certainly share with many others.

How can we handle this crisis?  The foreign intervention did not result anything and we have failed also to solve it ourselves. The arrogance and egocentricity of politicians has led Madagascar into a horrible pit.

To conclude, what we have lived for more than half year is enough and we are fed up. We have come together to a common perception that politicians in Madagascar are not seeking for the welfare of its people, politicians do politics because they want to get the power that enable them to control everything and to enrich. If there was really people concern in those politicians, they would put aside their selfishness and think about the poor Madagascan people victim of this crisis. Up till now this behavior is not seen on them. Think about the foreign effort to restore peace in the island. We don’t forget what happened during the Madagascar crisis summit they could have reached to an arrangement. Though the Maputos was a major stride among the politicians which show their willingness to contain this crisis, there is much to be done in finding fair agreement between political parties in the new transitional government.

As the political unrest  is still the remarkable event in Madagascar, again this new post deals accordingly on political issues that are recently evolved. Not being myself an adept to politics from the beginning, commenting on it has become my favorite pass time. Aftermath  the political resolution issued   from Maputo I ,many people or group of people  or organization  have  given their opinion upon it ,  some people even dare  to make  harsh criticism  and some play with words and  miscontrue the content of the written agreement to be on  their side. Let’s make it clear that those who attended the reconciliation session   in Maputo were grown up person, they have agreed on every line of the written resolution by their signature and not implementing it would be considered as a betrayal.

accord-de-paix Most of Malagasy people have been expecting that Maputo I is going to end the political issues in our country, unfortunately it is not the case; the political situation is still uncertain as we know that especially Rajoelina’s allies are not agreed with Maputo’s pact. The reason is simple about a quarter of the figures in current power are going to lose their seat arguing that they are the origin of transition and should not being kicked out  like that. Thus it would make the current situation more complicated. What we should do is waiting for Maputo II to be fruitful.

Something that attracted my attention this week when I read  a mainstream newspaper , I stumbled on a  small article arguing that Malagasy  political issues are for Madagascan people and we should find out the agreement  between ourselves, we don’t need  even foreign intervention in this crisis nor foreign  help since we are rich enough in natural resources”  I was stunned while  reading the article .Is that really possible to break up from the rest of the world and live in an isolated way , that is absurd , I said to one of my cousin. Though many foreign countries assist Madagascar in different fields we still occupy the last rank in term of development so bringing foreign assistance into a halt would spark a disaster.

Being independent is a good thing but we cannot split from the rest of world , just take the example of North Korea  owing to  its  nuclear  weapon program North Korea  is  put into isolation .under the administration of the dictator Pyongyang  the people  suffer from  economic recession. He just feed his people’s illusion to the concept of patriotism and daren’t to revolt but when look at people’s life. Many North Korean people are leading miserable life.

All in all, what I am trying to convey is that Madagascar is a country member of the UN and the AU, hence, as an active member we should conform to the resolution proposed to restore peace in our country. Just look how long have we tried to solve this political turmoil but it is still remaining  there? But let the united nation do their job and let not discuss any more the decision because we really need peace restored rapidly in order to progress. A lot of madagascan people still hope that Maputo II will bring recovering to the long  political unrest  in Madagascar.

The famous three words yes we can   are not new to our ear. Who does not know that this slogan played important role in Obama’s victory during November election and became familiar   in American’s mouths? No need to recall that Obama was the first afro American ever elected president of the USA, and he owes his victory partly to this slogan.

When we say yes we can, the first thing that should come to mind is that there was something that needed to alter ,something that the society decided that is no  longer  approved and the sole thing to get through it is  to change. In fact, obama was determined to change the history and make him elected as the first black president of the most powerful country in this planet. Besides, when we say yes we can, we have to consider that we are involved. It won’t exist unless we take part on it.Thanks to the   majority vote on behalf of obama, he won the election.Indeed, Obama succeeded to turn the book of history of the US into a new chapter ad we can say that a new era is in the air under his administration. Bearing to mind that Obama’s election campaign team worked very hard to enable Obama to become the number one figure in the white house.

obama_yes_we_canYes we can!  While we are still dragging into political conflict, within six months. If there is really a will, we can bring to this crisis into a halt and restore peace permanently in our beloved country.

Undoubtedly, many of us wish the protagonist  could reach to an agreement and to reconcile at once. We as Madagascan people are longing so much for it in order to be able to leave in peace.

I don’t want to come back again to the past but Of course when there is general public revolt, there is always a reason. We will never live in peace if rally still continue here and there .Politicians between themselves have to find solutions as quick as possible to end up this crisis. Yes they can do that when there is a will, we can do everything, who does not know that motto.

Like barrack Obama, we have to change our history into a new chapter, we need change .I guess most of Madagascan people agree with me on that point .We are fed up enduring the consequences of the crisis. For  instance, Saturday night a bunch of  terrorists attempted to attack VIVA  radio and TV station   and   criminals’ act  is growing across the city; The daily life  has become harsh to cope  and  we all afraid of what will going to happen again in the incoming days .

Though, the yes you can slogan is addressed especially for the American citizen during Obama’s long campaign in the US; nobody will blame us if we borrow it and address it to Madagascan people. Yes you can!

It is possible to heal our country again and set it away of hatred, anger, selfishness, discrimination and we can consider peace as our priority.

The question is now posed: how we can get out of this trouble? Of course by an election provided that it is organized in transparency and all the election staff should have an unbiased view on the candidates’s policy.  Hence, if that is the solution why are we lingering on bullshit thing rather than concentrating on how we can organize the election as soon as possible. Some of you may say  that  is what the hat is doing now however I am not sure of that . They are already thinking on how it make easier for them to win this election.

                        AFR03_MADAGASCAR-CRISIS-_03

Due to international committee pressure , the hat made  it official that  there will be election by the end of this year; that  sound good , But  if we really want that such problem won’t going to happen again . We have to put in place a neutral entity to organize the election in which we really trust in.If not we are bound to face again the recurrent problem of ballot stealing over the past fifty years.Yes we can turn the page! During 49 years, there was a repeated public revolt against the then administration in Madagascar which resulted number of casualties.Up till now we still see such happening again. We as African country can emulate Ghana (see my previous post).  It is among our saying that good things are worth to be emulated. If Ghana succeeds to organize transparent successive election,we can also.It is high time we put the lid and undertake a new way for Madagascar.Oh! yes  we can!

The first state visit of Barack obama as US president in Ghana was to spur genuine democracy to the African countries in which Ghana was served as a good example of a democratic country. Even though his destination was Ghana, his speech was addressed to the whole African continent. A speech which is aimed to promote democracy in Africa. In which he asserted that: “no country will get out of poverty unless tyranny and corruption ended from that country”obama

This official visit to sub Saharan Africa is due to have great impact in African countries. He denounced also the usual trend of the African leaders and spurred to get a new way to rule the country.

Africa keeps the last rank in development despite natural wealth it owes, the reason is simple because this wealth is badly managed or put in a wrong hand. Indeed, Barack obama stressed on the fact that it is caused by a tyrant leader and corruption that still prevails in that country. That is definitely true.

Relating to the media  ,one main reason  that president  Obama preferred  to visit Ghana instead of his ancestors homeland Kenya is because this country showed  transparency  during successive election  which is a good example to be  emulated  to all African countries.obama2

It is a fact that it is difficult to find honest leaders in Africa. They are bound to the same thing. Stealing once getting to power: their sole goal is to make their own business prosperous. Sometimes I wonder why African people accept such thing to happen, why they don’t revolt to fight against its leaders who spend their time to quench self interest and greed rather than social interest.

Many African countries got their independence just after the World War II ended until now many of them are still occupying the last rank in terms of development indices. That is shameful.

Most economists and anyone with half brain know that over the year poured with aid; Africa has achieved very little in result. Why? Some of African countries after fifty and sixty years of independence have barely advanced at all. We all know the cause of it corruption. While the people suffer their leader drive around in Mercedes and wear costly clothes. No more can African blame on colonial past it is now become a lame and tired excuse. The truth is that corruption is the cancer of Africa today and it is worth to mention that every election is a farce. There is no transparent election.

Madagascar, for instance, got its independence in 1960, Many president ruled up till now, led us in supposedly development but the attempt to get the country out of poverty is a failure or to be honest their effort is not sufficient.

It is undeniable that many countries in Africa suffer from poverty and deserve assistance at any cost. Indeed, we thank the G8 or having unveiled  15 billion dollar package to boost agricultural investment and food security  which consist in helping the poorer  country  Let make it clear  that  this assistance is meant to be spend on something not again to put in one’s pocket .poverty

I am against about the percept of the other fatalist saying that it is a fate.  It does not!! We African people have to struggle to have equal life as the European people have. Thus, what we really need is as Obama said a good leader who really thinks of the common interest in the country not to fill his own pocket with money and think only with his own interest  and run  away to another country as a refugee when their  revolutionary movement.

There is a saying in Malagasy language: The evil person does not have corn. And that is really exact, how many president Madagascar had, and how many of them showed like caring about the people interest however, they still corrupt somewhere. That attitude should be eradicated if we want really a genuine economic progress. That‘s explain the fact that Africa does not go forward on development and many African countries are now still under such leader.

We hope that this really end and give hope of development to African people and the attempt of tyrant person to get to power should be vanished.

We deserve to live in peace and to have better life, and let’s develop a new vision and save Africa from the hand of those tyrant people in order to lead  the country in real  democracy which is the sole key if we want  to develop economically .  Well, president Obama’s vist has a significant meaning for Africa and let‘s hope that the message he delivered reached the person in concern and would serve as a catalyst to African development.
